5 Ways to Cozy Up Your Space This Fall

As the crisp fall air settles in and the leaves begin their colorful dance to the ground, it’s the perfect time to transform your space into a cozy haven. Fall is all about embracing warmth and comfort, and there’s no better way to do that than by incorporating some seasonal touches into your home. Here are five simple yet effective ways to create a snug and inviting atmosphere this autumn with candles, throws, bedding, rugs, and decor.

1. Illuminate with Scented Candles

There’s something undeniably comforting about the gentle glow and rich aroma of candles. This fall, opt for scented candles that evoke the season's essence. Think pumpkin spice, cinnamon apple, or cedarwood. Place candles on tables, mantels, or in corners where they can provide a warm, ambient light. For an added touch of coziness, use candle holders that complement your fall decor—perhaps a vintage brass holder or a wooden lantern. The soft light and enticing scents will instantly make your space feel more inviting.

2. Layer Up with Plush Throws

Throws are not just functional; they’re a stylish way to add texture and warmth to your space. Choose throws in fall-inspired colors like deep oranges, rich browns, or muted greens. Chunky knit throws or fleece-lined blankets are perfect for wrapping yourself up on chilly evenings. Drape them over your sofa or armchair, or layer them on the end of your bed. This not only enhances comfort but also adds a pop of seasonal color and style to your room.

3. Upgrade Your Bedding for Fall

Your bedroom should be a retreat of comfort and relaxation. For fall, swap out your lightweight summer bedding for something more substantial. Opt for flannel sheets or a cozy quilt in autumnal hues. Layer your bed with a soft duvet or comforter and add extra pillows for an extra touch of warmth and luxury. Consider using pillowcases and shams with fall-themed patterns or textures, such as plaid or velvet, to create a cohesive and inviting look.

4. Add Warmth with Area Rugs

Area rugs are a fantastic way to add warmth and texture to any room. During fall, opt for rugs with rich, warm tones or patterns that evoke the season. Rugs in deep reds, oranges, or browns can anchor a space and make it feel more grounded. They also add a layer of comfort underfoot, which is especially nice as temperatures drop. Consider layering smaller rugs over larger ones for a cozy, collected look.

5. Enhance Your Decor with Seasonal Touches

Finally, don’t forget the power of decor to set the fall mood. Incorporate seasonal elements such as miniature pumpkins, dried leaves, or autumnal wreaths. Place these items strategically on shelves, tables, or mantels. A beautiful fall-themed centerpiece can instantly make your dining area more inviting. Additionally, consider using fabric or wooden accents with autumnal motifs, such as acorns or pinecones, to enhance the overall ambiance of your home.

Our favorite bedding...and we have a lot of favorites!

Bedding is our speciality and our passion. It always has been. I remember my mother having a passion for bedding and always changing her bedding for every season. So naturally I grew up wanting to do the same thing. With luxury bedding like Bella Notte Linens that is not always possible but what is possible is changing a few shams and pillows to give your bed a completely different look or adding a coverlet and throw. Our bedding lines work very well together. You can mix and match Bella Notte with Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic, Taylor Linens, Pom Pom at Home and Couture Dreams. We do it all the time. Beautiful Shabby Chic sheets and a Bella Notte Duvet looks lovely together. Then add a Pine Cone Hill throw and your all set. Throw in some gorgeous Couture Dreams curtains and your room is super dreamy!

It's Almost Spring and Time for New Bedding

Growing up I always loved that my mother changed our bedding for each season. It was fun waiting to see what our bedding would be. She would change the entire bedding set or just refresh with new pillows and shams and depending on the season change the weight of the blankets and duvets. It is such a great way to change the look of a room. With Spring right around the corner we are ready to change up our beds. With Bella Notte we usually just change to a lighter duvet and change our shams.  For Spring we love the Linen Whisper Bedspread and Shams and a touch of Olivia Lace

For Taylor Linens we love to start introducing more white. A soft white matelasse or a beautiful quilt like Laura one of our favorites and best sellers. Soft ruffled sheets add that romantic spring touch and Prairie is our absolute favorite collection.

Pine Cone Hill introduced beautiful new spring collections. Our favorite is this pom pom throw available in several colors but we are going with the pink! Then Silken Solid Slipper Pink Sheets are so gorgeous they are a must have this season.

So have some fun this spring and change up your bedding. As always we offer free design assistance, free shipping, free swatches and a great payment plan.

1. Lofting beds: Lofting beds isn't always an option, but if it is, it's a great way to free up floor space.

2. Double up the desks: At some schools, you're allowed to bring your own desks, which means you can purchase something streamlined and sleek.

3. Curtains: Hanging in front of your bed can give you privacy. A simple curtain hides shelves that are sure to get messy.

4. Butting beds: Just like with the desks, sliding beds over to the side of the room gives everything a more spacious feel. Plus, you end up with a sort of daybed/sofa vibe

  • Laundry hamper is a must-have for any dorm room closet. Pop-up hampers are ideal for tiny closets – the mesh material is flexible, so it can be squeezed into tight spaces.
  • Hanging shelves will give you more storage for your clothing. They take up a small amount of space in your closet.
  • Shoe racks are ideal, it will keep all your footwear neatly organized in one place. Over-the-door versions are roomy and can hold lots of shoes, but not all dorm closets have doors.
