Gift Wrapping with Nature

Today we wanted to share with you a bit about gift wrapping for this holiday season. 

There’s a million different ways you can gift wrap, but we wanted to show you a more natural approach. Don't just stop with your Christmas tree, bring the outdoors inside this year by using it as gorgeous wrapping accents! All you need are some pinecones, fresh cut pine tree branches, and any other pretty things you can find in nature. Check out these beauties:

Grab some twine, kraft paper and something green. Top it with a pine cone, and all of your friends and relatives will be just as excited with the wrapping as they are for their gift inside!

Thanksgiving is next week, so keep your eyes peeled for gorgeous decoration ideas, healthy recipes and holiday gift ideas from our store.

BUT! Since I can't wait for the holiday, I'll leave you with a Thanksgiving inspired recipe to test out this weekend! I hope this vegan friendly dish is tasty. If you try it out, please share your experience with us in the comments below. We would love to hear how it turns out.

Sourdough Stuffing with Pine Nuts and Raisins from VegKitchen:

This versatile stuffing is good on its own or stuffed into winter squashes, or green or red bell peppers.  

Serves: 6 to 8

• 6 cups firmly packed diced whole grain sourdough bread

• 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

• 1 cups chopped red onion

• 3 scallions, minced

• 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

• 1/4 teaspoon each: dried thyme and rosemary

• 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt, more or less to taste

• 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts

• 1/2 cup dark raisins

• Freshly ground pepper to taste

• 1 cup apple or orange juice, or as neededPlace the diced bread on a baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until dry and lightly browned.

Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the onion and sauté over medium heat until golden.

Combine the bread cubes with the onion in a mixing bowl. Add all the remaining ingredients except the apple juice and toss together. Sprinkle the juice in slowly, stirring, to moisten the ingredients evenly.

Transfer the mixture to an oiled shallow 1 1/2-quart baking pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until browned and still slightly moist.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

We are back!

It has been awhile. So much has been happening. We are happy to be back. We are pleased to announce our new location will be open end of October. We will be located at 903 Main Street, Port Jefferson Village. We will announce our grand reopening soon and we plan to have an amazing holiday season with lots of great new finds.

We are also now located at the Port Jefferson Florist at 408 Main Street. We are pleased to be working with Kathy and have set up a beautiful window display with Dawn from Hydrangea Home. Our products are on display already with more on the way.
